Proud Educator. Veteran. And Father

Meet Hector

I am a family man who lives in Forest Park. I’m a veteran and a teacher and currently serving as your City Councilman in Ward 3.

When I was serving in Afghanistan in the U.S. Army, the lack of resources I saw there made me appreciate how lucky I am to have grown up in this country.  My service made me realize that as Americans we are blessed to have so many opportunities. Though I was injured at war and had to cut my military career short, I continued to serve as an educator when I returned home. I love this country and I am deeply committed to doing whatever I can to keep the American Dream alive. And that’s what I intend to do during my term as your councilman at Forest Park.

Hector was the first person in his family to graduate high school, so he continued to college earning two bachelor’s degrees from Kennesaw State University and a Master’s Degree from Georgia State University

I moved to the city in 2014 and I’m proud to have taught at Unidos Dual Language School, a school that was named the best in the county by our school district. I am dedicated to our community and have enjoyed getting to know our students and parents. As a teacher, I see firsthand what our families in our community need.  I believe we should have more after-school activities for our youth and prepare our high school students for trade school or college. Our local library should have more events to promote early literacy. Homelessness and lack of business diversity should be directly addressed.  And I want to continue being your voice in these issues.

"My commitment to my community and country has led me to continue to serve by motivating children to be productive citizens"

As your neighbor, I hope to meet more of you during and after my term. I am not a politician. I am a working citizen just like you who wants to represent our city’s best interests.
